Ansafi vs BuiltWith
Three differences that matter, and the places where BuiltWith is genuinely better.
1. Where the data comes from
Ours is built on HTTP Archive — an Internet Archive project backed by Google, Mozilla, Fastly and Akamai, which loads millions of real sites in a real browser every month and publishes the dataset openly. It has run continuously since 2011. BuiltWith's crawl is private: you take the output on trust. Ours you can query yourself. How it works →
2. Change, not just state
Because we hold 7 consecutive monthly crawls, we can tell you a company dropped a technology, when, and what appeared in its place. A rep can act on “they left your competitor six weeks ago” in a way they cannot act on “they use your competitor.”
3. What is in a row
A BuiltWith list tells you the prospect uses the technology you filtered on. Ours carries their whole detected stack — an average of 17.3 technologies per prospect across 716,977 profiled domains — with categories and version strings, so “still on Magento 1” is a list you can actually build.
Where BuiltWith is better
- Coverage. They run their own crawler at greater scale. We are bounded by the open crawl's inclusion rules — 12.1M registrable domains.
- Freshness. Monthly, published a few weeks after the month it covers. Theirs is faster.
- Large enterprises. Big firms run marketing and commerce on subdomains a homepage crawl never sees. This data is strongest in the mid-market.
- Contact data. They sell sourced contacts. We verify addresses you already have and do not supply them.
If you need the largest possible list, buy theirs. If you need to know what changed and who else is in the stack, from a source you can audit yourself, that is this. Browse the catalogue →
